eSIM compatible phones
Most iPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones from the last few years support eSIM. Here is how to check your phone in 1 minute, and which phones we know have eSIM.
Is my phone eSIM compatible? Check in 1 minute
Use the check for your phone. Not sure? Dial *#06#. It works on almost every phone.
iPhone
- Open Settings > General > About.
- Scroll down. If you see Digital SIM or an EID, your iPhone has eSIM.
- Or open Settings > Cellular (Mobile Data in some countries). If you see Add eSIM, your iPhone has eSIM.
Android
- Open Settings > Connections (Network & internet on Google Pixel).
- Open SIM manager (SIMs on Google Pixel).
- If you can add an eSIM there, your phone has eSIM. Menu names differ by brand.
Any phone
- Open the phone app and dial *#06#.
- If you see an EID (a number with 32 digits), your phone has eSIM.
- If there is no EID, your phone most likely has no eSIM.
Your phone must be unlocked
A phone from a carrier can be locked to that carrier. A locked phone does not work with the eSIM, even if it supports eSIM.
On iPhone, open Settings > General > About and look at Carrier Lock. If it says No SIM restrictions, your iPhone is unlocked.
On Android, ask your carrier. Most carriers unlock a phone when it is paid off.
eSIM compatible phones and devices by brand
This list is not complete. The same model can have eSIM in one country and not in another, or from one carrier and not from another. Phones from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau often have no eSIM. Dialing *#06# gives the final answer.

eSIM phone questions
- Can I use an eSIM on a locked phone?
- No. Ask your carrier to unlock your phone first, then install the eSIM.
- Is dual SIM the same as eSIM?
- No. Some dual SIM phones have two SIM card slots and no eSIM. Dial *#06#: if you see an EID, your phone has eSIM.
- What if my phone has no eSIM?
- Then the eSIM does not work on it. NiftySIM sells only eSIMs, not physical SIM cards.
- What is an eSIM?
- An eSIM is a digital SIM that is built into your phone. You add a mobile data plan with a setup link or a QR code, so you do not need a physical SIM card.
- Can I keep my normal number?
- Yes. Your normal SIM stays in your phone. The travel eSIM only adds mobile data for your trip.
